Originally sold as Ozempic for the treatment of Type II Diabetes, the FDA approved Semaglutide for weight loss in 2021 under the name Wegovy. Wegovy (Semaglutide) reduces food intake by decreasing appetite and slowing digestion. It also helps to reduce hunger and food cravings too. Studies have shown 10-20% reduction in body weight in individuals with obesity. Additional benefits of weight loss may include lower blood pressure, cholesterol, hemoglobin A1C, and decreased back and joint pains.
At Vivagen Health, we take a holistic approach to a medical weight loss program.
At our clinic, our patients are not simply a medical record number. Our weight loss program is 16 weeks consisting of a once a week subcutaneous (under the skin) Semaglutide injection and nutrition and lifestyle counseling. You can come to our clinic for the injection or we can even teach you how to do it on your own at home on your schedule.
During your initial appointment, you will receive a consultation to make sure Semaglutide is right for you. We will obtain your medical history and perform a medical examination to make sure taking the medication is safe for you. We will also perform a baseline set of labs. During a follow-up in-person appointment between 4-8 weeks, we’ll obtain a second set of labs, discuss any questions or concerns you may have, and reassess your goals.
